IR Communication

The IR Turret uses infrared communication to rotate, aim, and execute commands with precision - like launching foam darts randomly in a game of roulette, or awaiting the proper passcode to lock-out younger siblings or other unwanted users. With IR Turret, the sky’s the limit: go rogue hacking it!

The Domino Robot uses light sensors to detect tape beneath the robot, allowing you to lay out a path and have it set up dominos for you automatically! Level up your robot even further by hacking on the IR sensor from the IR Turret build, and making your Domino Robot remote controllable!

Stepper Motor

The Label Maker is a robot that can write infinitely on a roll of tape, so you can create cool labels and robotic art with the power of programming. Starting out, it has only a simple alphabet, but with the power of code you can hack it to draw custom emojis, prank your friends by changing their label, and even play games!

Polar Coordinates

The Sand Garden uses math and algorithms to draw complex patterns. You get 10 different patterns pre-loaded to draw in the circular bed of sand. But by using helper functions in the code, you can draw any pattern that you can imagine! Change parameters and hack code to create your very own designs!

How It Works

Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! Hack Pack robots will work right out of the box. Here’s the inside scoop...if you can put together a lego set, you can definitely build these robots and we provide all the materials required.

But get this: Hack Pack can be completely leveled up by hacking the main computer controller, unlocking plenty of challenges and fun for anyone, from those new to coding to master hackers.

CrunchLabs Hack Pack robots are designed for teens 14+ and adults. We test every product with third-party testing agencies to ensure the products comply with US and EU safety standards for teens ages 14-years and older. Parents and guardians can gauge the appropriateness for their kids, but we have worked hard to ensure that they’re a blast for the intended age range.

We're so excited to introduce you to the Platinum Diploma Sweepstakes*! Each Hack Pack subscriber is entered into a twice-a-year drawing for the chance to win $80,000 to put towards college and a trip to CrunchLabs to hang out with Mark Rober.

*No Purchase Necessary. Ends 5/31/25. 50 U.S. & D.C., 18+. See Official Rules.

It depends! We try to make each build 60 to 90 minutes on average for a 14+ year old. But if your teen has homework to do, or there’s a pesky, curious sibling, or they just need to clear their head by running around in circles, they can always come back later to finish.

Our Hack Pack boxes are designed for one user, so we recommend a subscription for each kid. Besides, how are you supposed to defend your candy stash without a password protected Label Maker?

Yes! You've got some symptom-to-solution solves :

You can also ask the Mark RoBot in the coding console for tips too!

If all else fails, please contact customer service at help@crunchlabs.com.

    Perfect Learning Kit

I wish these were available when I was younger! A fantastic playground to learn many beneficial skills from coding, electronics, and mechanical engineering all merging in the robotics world. The build was straightforward and easy. Connecting the IDE to the microcontroller was a little tricky the first time until I watched the entire second video provided in the IDE to figure out I missed running the program as administrator (Windows). Hacking the code has been fun and educational. It could be difficult for someone who has no background or basic understanding of code since there isn't any direct tutorial or training for the code portion. Just reach out to the community or the Mark Robot for help.

Great Start and Excited about Additional Hack Packs

We just got our first Hack Pack - IR Turret in today and built it. It took around 30 minutes to put together (11 year old 6th grader with 30s engineer dad helping). Worked great with good fit of servos, wires, and other parts. Starter code worked great! Production value for video instructions were excellent and the manual was a nice supplement, if we needed to slow down. Looking forward to customizing code and adding a few additional sensors we have laying around while we wait for the next Pack!

    Amazing Idea

To be honest, Hack Pack seems to just coming out of its beta phase (the website says the subscription is currently for early adopters), but things are definitely constantly being worked on to make it better. Since replacement parts if it doesn't work are completely free, it's basically guaranteed to work eventually, in the rare case that it doesn't work for you right away. It's been fun talking with people on the Discord and helping people find what is causing their issues =P

To the other low reviews about loose connections, since they remodeled the breadboard version this should be muuuch less frequent of an issue - if it's an issue for you and you request a replacement, they'll send the new version. To the one review about the domino bot not turning on, this happens when you accidentally connect some of the red and black wires backwards (which lets the power flow straight back into the battery without powering the arduino, this is called short-circuiting).
