My son gives it a ding. Me, ditto. I gave it to him for his 10th birthday. Highlights of what he said while making it: "Ooh... he's obsessed with googly eyes... wee... this is the best present ever... wait, you got me a subscription... Mumma you're the best." The chatbot makes it easy and he was doing level 2 coding and pasting code at level 3 first try. I bought him a dongle so he can code with more comfort / have a longer wire. As for the Hack Pack brand - the silver dot design on the box is kind of cool, reminds me of Tron. The wood is thick, good quality. Biggest toy googly eye ever. My son got his interest when he was 6, after watching the videos. I'm handy, so didn't find it hard to help him, but engineering and coding wasn't a subject choice when I was young and watching some random person on YouTube with dodgy audio and a desk lamp or trying to google it is pretty onerous and frustrating. Add lack of time, procrastination, then having to re-read/re-watch... my son won't stand 5 seconds of those videos, so Hack Pack is pretty good for me. Serves it with apex of A video quality and teaching in a fun way [with googly eyes]. My son's also way cleverer than me, so this way, he (kind of) gets to hang out with a bunch of smarties. He loves being a Crunchlabber and I know when he's old he'll look back and smile, that makes me smile too.
